Aiptek PenCam

Aiptek PenCam CompactI got myself a new Aiptek PenCam Compact digital camera.

I wanted something that's small enough to carry around with me at all times but still has some decent capabilities.

This one seems pretty tiny, has 8MB memory, and can take 640x480 pictures.

I can't wait to get it.....

Thank You Internet Gods

It seems that the things that I write here are showing up in various search engines!

I knew that my site was indexed by the major search engines but only the main page was being indexed.

Now it seems that Guy's World is also being indexed on a regular basis.

I guess I have to watch what I write here (you'll never know where it pops up.....).

Mozilla 1.0

I installed Mozilla 1.0 Release Candidate 2 a few days ago.

I'm impressed!

I've been an avid Microsoft IE user for quite a while now, but we may have a new alternative soon.....

The Mozilla browser is much faster than IE, has some cool JavaScript debugging tools, and the interface is a cool refreshment.

There are some CSS issues that don't act the same as IE, but most of the sites I compared seem to look pretty much the same on both browsers.

Packed Weekend!

Whew: what a long weekend!

Let's see:

On Friday we decided to give a chance to a local DVD store (Multivideo), instead of Blockbuster.

We started off with 10 rentals for 140NIS.

After that we participated in an orienteering event in Reut (which sucked btw).

In the evening we celebrated my sister's birthday over dinner at Cactus.

Saturday morning my dad and I participated in a mountain bike orienteering in Bat Shlomo.

It was pretty hard, but fun nonetheless.

Pretty packed, ah?

Ikea

Yesterday we popped by Ikea.

Its the first time I've ever been to Ikea and my conclusion is......

....Cool store!

Very interesting designs, great prices, tons of products.....

Just walking around the store gives you great ideas of how to decorate your life.

We ended up buying a bunch of odds and ends and this cool chair/game console storage:

(only we got it in iMac orange)

Who Knows The Answer

Get this:

Beatle Paul McCartney, frustrated that dozens of callers failed to
give the correct answer to a local radio station's Beatle's trivia
question, "What Beach Boy's song does Paul appear on eating a carrot?"
phoned the station himself and won a collection of items with his own
signature.

He gave them back to the station to give to someone else.

Oh, the answer is "Vegetables."

Price Cut 2

Guess what:

Sony is probably also cutting the price of its PS2 from ~$300 to ~$200 (sound familiar to you?).

Now I have a dilemma....

Nintendo: do you have any announcements?

Yesterday I started reading the book About Face.

The first 30+ pages seem pretty interesting.

We'll see how it goes...

Code Complete

I finished reading Code Complete today.

This book is a must have for any software developer. No doubt about that!

Although it's a bit long (850+ pages) I'd recommend any software developer/project manager read it (and force their employees to read it too :-)).

Orienteering

On Friday we participated in another sport orienteering event.

Since it was by foot (not mountain bikes) Keren came too.

The 4k was a bit too easy for me (since we walked it) but enjoyable none the less.

Here's a picture of me from last week's mountain bike orienteering:

New Domain Name

I just bought a new domain name: glu.us

I tried to get guy.us (from my regular registrar: dotster.com) but somebody beat me to it.

Oh well, glu.us is cool too.

I set it up at mydomain.com

They have some neat domain tools (email, url forwarding, ...)

For now I set up glu.us to forward to this page.

The really cool thing is that I just bought the domain name about 5 hours ago, set up the mydomain account about an hour later, and it already works!!

I typed http://glu.us in the address bar just for fun, not even expecting to get any kind of response, and bam: everything works like a charm!

Color me impressed.
