Back To Basics

Well it's back to the real world for us.

Aw, 50-60 years from now I'll have a similar place of my own...

Dave's Quick Search Deskbar

I just discovered that a new version of Dave's Quick Search Deskbar is out.

This tool is absolutely amazing (and version 3.0 has some great new features).
It combines all the tools you could ever want: currency conversion, dictionary, measurement converter,....

(and even more tools that you never know when you'll need)

There are probably TONS of applications that say they are "must have" but this one really is.

Livin' It Up

This week Keren and I will be house sitting at my uncle's place while he's away.

The ocean view and swimming pool can't be too bad :-).

Spy Game

At least Vanilla Sky was technically good. Spy Game ,on the other hand, was not only boring but wasn't even visually pleasing.
The story line was so uninteresting that I'm surprised I didn't fall asleep!
I wasted enough time on this movie that I even don't want to waste anymore to write something about it.
So that's it!

Vanilla Sky

After hearing so much about how great Vanilla Sky is, we couldn't help but being disappointed.
The movie is technically very good, but boring!
It's difficult to follow the storyline, which makes it hard to understand what's going on.
I guess that's what the director wanted, but it's not what I want. I just want to sit back and enjoy a movie without having to follow a complicated plot where everything is left up to the viewer to decide...

Joel On Software

Lately I've been reading Joel Spolsky's great articles on the world of software development at http://www.joelonsoftware.com.

I printed out most of the articles he wrote (don't worry I'll print the rest out when I finish reading what I have) and I read them on the train to/from work.

The articles he writes are right up my reading alley, right along the lines of other great reading like Code Complete and About Face (both of which are on his book reviews list, btw).

Indoor Basketball Hoop

Hey!

I forgot to write about the new cool addition to our lives:

Keren bought us an indoor basketball hoop.

You know, the kind you see at arcades (I'll post a picture of it soon....)

After spending several days glued to it, my personal record is 109 points in 1 minute.

Let's see if I can break it....

Cats & Dogs

A few days ago we saw Cats & Dogs hoping for something similar to Dr. Dolittle.
Ooops!
Aside for the cute talking dogs (and some lame cats) this movie was pretty dull.
We thought that since respectable actors like Jeff Goldblum are in it then it would be more than a plain old children's movie.
Wrong!

Well, you live, you learn...

Pirates of Silicon Valley

Yesterday I happened to catch Pirates of Silicon Valley on TV.
I've been wanting to see this movie ever since I heard about it, a while ago.
It tells the story of the founders of Apple and Microsoft during the 70s and 80s.
The movie was great, showing the history and historic moments of the computer giants and the people behind them.
The story of Bill Gates, Steve Job, and their sidekicks is fascinating, which makes you forget about the fact that the movie itself is pretty low budget, made for TV, and not a cinematic masterpiece (even the beards and other props in the movie are clearly fake and of low quality).
I never had an interest in history, but the modern history and the story of the nerds that made it happen, really had me glued to my seat.
I guess this movie is the real Revenge Of The Nerds.
