Now that the semester is officially over I finally have some free time to catch up on my reading.
I started reading the long awaited The Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering.
I didn't have a chance to read much yet but from what I did manage to read so far, it seems great.
It's also pretty amazing that this book was originally written in 1975!

Yesterday I happened to pop by a Tower records so I picked up a copy of one of my all time favorite CDs: ...And Justice For All
This is one that I've wanted for quite a while but never got around to buying it.
Poor neighbors :o)

Yesterday I received the Proporta Aluminum Case for the Sony Clie NX-70V.
It's much smaller than the free neoprene case that I got about a month ago ("while you wait") and a lot snugglier.
And it looks much cooler!
The only thing is that the neoprene seems to protect the Clie more than the aluminum case.

Congratulations (again) to Keren on the new car!
I hope it's the last one for a long time....
Click here to see a picture of the car.
Just kidding, I don't have a picture of it yet.

New Section: The Mobile-cam Archive
|
|
|
 |
 |
|
|
 |
 |

I added a new section to the site: Announcing the Mobile-cam Archive!
I created the archive by writing a Perl script that creates it automatically.
The script is basically an addition to the script I use to upload the mobile-cam image.
Originally the script gets a image file, creates a thumbnail of it, and uploads it to the site.
Now it adds the new image file to a list of all files in the archive, creates several HTML pages according to the list of saved image files, and uploads the new file and the updated HTML files to the archive directory.
Currently the code is very specific to my needs so I won't be posting it to the site till I have some time to improve it (to make it more robust and general).
If you want the source code then let me know.

As for the Guy's World facelift, I played around with it a bit more tonight and added a background texture, changed the title row images, and lost the top right logo (it looked a bit scary).
How bout it now?

Yesterday I decided to give Guy's World (what you're looking at now :o) a face lift.
I played around with the colors a bit and added some new images (the logo at the top right and the title bars for the posts).
Let me know what you think.

Internet Connection Working Again
|
|
|
 |
 |
|
|
 |
 |

My cable Internet connection at home is finally working again.
I signed up with a new ISP (Barak 013) since my previous ISP (Aquanet) started charging money.
Aquanet's connection is both unreliable and slow but that was ok as long as it was free.
Now that I need to pay for it (even thought Aquanet is still the cheapest ISP I could find in Israel) I'd rather pay a good ISP.
The deal I got from Barak 013 is 79NIS per month for at least one year, with no obligations whatsoever.
No other ISP in Israel (there are about 7 cable ISPs here) offered me anything even close (they all cost more and several wanted a one year obligation).
So far the speed with the Barak connection is pretty good, much faster than the one I had with Aquanet.

I use a cool little free program called Codex in order to publish my source code.
What it does is open a source code file and creates a html file (or RTF) with syntax highlighting of the code.
It supports many popular languages like: C, Perl, JavaScript, HTML, Java,....
and it's small (686KB) and free (what more could you ask for?)

Social mobile phones
Check out these concept mobile phones that are intended to modify their users behavior in order to make using a cell phone less disruptive.
My favorite is the "speaking mobile" that enables people to converse without actually speaking (the phone creates common expressive sounds like "yeah", "hmmm"...). It's actually a pretty cool idea (the other ones are a bit far fetched).

Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial Freedom
This book is the follow up to Rich Dad Poor Dad and, in my opinion, is much better (although I wouldn't recommend reading it before you read Rich Dad Poor Dad).
While the first book focuses more on the attitude changes you need to make and introduces some new ways of thinking, Cashflow Quadrant explains some of the actual things you can do in order to help you get started with securing your financial future.
If you already read Rich Dad Poor Dad and aren't quite sure what you are supposed to do now in order to get started, then this is the book for you.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a book that I've heard quite a lot about.
It's a very enlightening book, making you think about you life and your financial future.
Recommended reading for anybody who wants to secure their financial future (since this already sounds like an infomercial: read it now and we'll add a free set of steak knives, only $359.99 P&P).
